Enshittification, you'll recall, is the lifecycle of the online platform: first, the platform allocates #surpluses to end-users; then, once users are locked in, those surpluses are taken away and given to business-customers. 3/
Last week, @markgurman published a blockbuster story in @Business, revealing #Apple's plan to allow third-party #Ios #AppStores to comply with the #EU's #DigitalMarketsAct. @Apple didn't confirm it, but I believe it. Gurman's sourcing was impeccable:

Die Nutzung von Apps ist mit vielen Bereichen unseres Lebens & mit unserer Grundrechtsausübung verwoben. Zugleich haben #AppStores die Macht, den Zugang zu Infrastruktur zu ermöglichen oder zu verwehren. Sie entscheiden einseitig welche Apps zu welchen Bedingungen verfügbar sind.
Beispiel: #AppStores können uns den Zugang zu einem ganzen sozialen Netzwerk faktisch verwehren und damit unsere #Meinungsfreiheit erheblich beschränken. Die derzeitigen AGBs der App Stores sind außerdem so frei formuliert, dass die Stores vollkommen willkürlich agieren können.
