The Elizabeth City community has continued to demand justice for #AndrewBrownJr, a father of seven. The local NC District Attorney, R. Andrew Womble, refused to prosecute the officers who fatally shot Brown.
Journalists and the community in Elizabeth City have been asking for the full video footage of the killing of Andrew Brown Jr. from the body cams and dash cam to be released since he was killed in April.
For over 40 nights, since the police shooting of #AndrewBrownJr on April 21, local protesters have been nonviolently gathering at 5pm & protesting in the streets of Elizabeth City, NC.
After a clergy march in #ElizabethCity on May 8, North Carolina faith leaders are now planning simultaneous solidarity rallies in cities across the state to stand with Elizabeth City and demand #JusticeForAndrewBrown

Body cam footage shows that when #AndrewBrownJr was shot & killed by Pasquotank sheriff's deputies, who swarmed his car toting AR-15s, they clearly acknowledged that he was attempting to flee but did NOT fire at his car at that time, most likely because it's against protocol.

Instead, these men, who should be highly skilled in tactical defense strategies, very STUPIDLY used their BODIES to block him in, basically throwing themselves in front of a moving vehicle, yet he still managed to only ALMOST hit one out of the dozen officers on scene!

In fact, only one shot was fired as he narrowly missed that one officer. Every other shot taken at his vehicle was fired while ZERO officers were in imminent danger. It is obvious that the first & only justified round fired did not kill him, which ballistics will confirm.

I first arrived in #ElizabethCity on April 28th, which was be the second day of peaceful activism since the "State of Emergency" was declared as the state reviewed the bodycam footage and refused to release it.

I only took video rather than photo in the evening, but a few hours after those photos, police arrested activists and charged them with disorderly conduct and violating curfew for continuing to speak out past 8pm.

I just got home from Elizabeth City where #AndrewBrownJr was killed. I spent last night walking through the Downtown and talking with local residents. There was one thing I kept hearing.
People in the town - including protesters and folks on the sidelines - kept pointing out that the city didn't "burn" even though there were nightly protests. They wanted this mentioned.
A few of the people I talked with attributed this to how tight knit this community is. People are angry - and not everyone in the town agrees - but they didn't want to damage their town.

Firstly, the "Suited Movement" from Virginia's 757 region marched in solidarity and prayed for the community.

Later, the community marched for #AndrewBrownJr as they have every night. When they passed the surviving family, hugs and tears.

Police slowly pushed forward against the crowd, while an arrest squad grabbed a third individual.
Police and the man briefly struggled during the arrest.
One water bottle was thrown toward police (which missed) which was the only time I saw something like that all night.

Across the street, a fourth person was arrested. I didn't see what led to it, but it most likely was a similar arrest for being out (without being credentialed media) past curfew.
