Today in 1963, 32 African countries formed the Organization of African Unity (OAU) to promote decolonization, end white rule, and raise living standards on the continent. While the OAU became the African Union in 2002, May 25 is still known as #AfricaDay.
Today we remember the words of former President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah, at the OAU inaugural ceremony May 25, 1963. He called attention to the limits of political independence, and argued that a new era of neocolonialism was replacing European colonialism in Africa.
"In independent Africa we are already re-experiencing the instability and frustration which existed under colonial rule. We are fast learning that political independence is not enough to rid us of the consequences of colonial rule."

On African Liberation Day, we remember Burkinabé socialist revolutionary Thomas Sankara.
Sankara became the President of Burkina Faso at the age of 33. He only lasted 4 years, because he was killed in a coup, suspected to have had support from the US and France. #AfricaDay

Sankara gained the love of his people because of his humble lifestyle, socialist programmes & economic prosperity, but also his confrontation with the national elite, as he stripped power away from them and for challenging Western imperialism and neo-colonialism in the continent.
In those 4 short years he:
• Lowered his salary to $450 a month, limited his possessions to a car, 4 bikes, 3 guitars, a fridge and a broken freezer.
• Sold off the government fleet of Mercedes cars & made the cheapest car in Burkina Faso the official service car.

From my perspective, the evolution of Kanye West is the most logical consequence of repeated attempts by BLACK americans to gain full citizenship in the country they belong to.
Ye isn't acting out-of-sync with common aspirations for US citizenship by blacks in amerika.
