This is the first time a judge has ordered a #borrowerdefense discharge of federal student loans, it would have a significant positive impact on borrowers like Josue who can be rid of this bogus debt and move on with their lives.

Former for-profit college exec. and top DeVos Dept. of Ed. official Diane Jones, just gave new life to deadbeat #4profit accreditor, ACICS – allowing an additional year to come into compliance. It’s a betrayal of students and taxpayers.
ACICS – infamous for accrediting #4profit Corinthian, ITT Tech, Westwood – was complicit in the exploitation of tens of thousands of students and the loss of millions in taxpayer dollars.
In April, I joined @SenBlumenthal and colleagues in raising concerns about Jones’ conflicts of interest in the ACICS case from her time working with them in the #4profit industry. Given her background, her decision on deadbeat ACICS is highly suspect, though not surprising.

One thing I point out in the #LowerEd epilogue is that there is a political context to shifting legitimacy to corporate highered. The GOP isn't shy about it. It's their official policy platform. Of Liberty, Alec shows this nicely

I'll admit I haven't read the entire Louise Linton Elle article, but this line from her bestie is maybe my favorite: "She’ll fall asleep on the sofa in front of a film and [Mnuchin will] carry her up to sleep. And then she’ll fall asleep in the bathroom." So. Many. Questions.
