Remember all those photos last summer of @UPS #Teamsters sharing temperature readings from the inside of their package cars? 100 degrees? 120? 140!

Yeah, we remember. #1u šŸ§µ Image
And all those workers and their families whoā€™ve suffered death, heat stroke, dehydration, and severe illness wonā€™t soon forget about UPSā€™s negligence.

Itā€™s long past time this corporation pulling in revenue in excess of $100 billion did something about it.
Corporate PR campaigns like ā€œCool Solutionsā€ and ā€œReChargeā€ arenā€™t going to cut it. #Teamsters need real solutions, not excuses and distractions.

At the bargaining table and in the barns, itā€™s time to reconcile with air conditioning and proper ventilation.

#Teamsters are calling on shareholders of Chipotle $CMG to support Item Six, a proposal that calls for the adoption of a non-interference policy in worker organizing efforts to prevent union busting at the company: teamster.org/2023/05/teamstā€¦ #1u
Chipotle staff in Lansing, MI who joined #Teamsters Local 243 became the first workers to form a union at the fast casual chain last year.
"Let me put the record straight: while the company stopped short of breaking the law by firing workers ā€” like an NLRB Administrative Law Judge found in Maine ā€” Chipotle sent in union busters (euphemistically called ā€˜union avoidance consultantsā€™) and held mandatory meetings..."

The first time I remember hearing the word ā€œcontentā€ was around 2005, in reference to material one would put in a website to increase traffic. Your dry cleaner, for example, would get a website and supply ā€œassetsā€ (logo, location photo, etc), 1/
But they then realized they needed something on there to get people to come back and keep them there. That stuff was ā€œcontent.ā€ A video, a poem, a blog post, it didnā€™t matter. Now why your dry cleaner needed to keep people on a website is a mystery, but they wanted it. 2/
And so, it would follow that another company, though more closely related to our business than a dry cleaners, would also want ā€œcontentā€ for their site to get people to come back and to hold their attention. And those companies are streamers. 3/

Lee Saunders: People don't want us to understand our history or the importance of our history. To get to where you want to go, you have to understand where you've come from.

Lee Saunders: The history of civil rights is so important. The "I Am" story goes back to 1968 when sanitation workers weren't treated well despite providing a necessary service to the people of Memphis. (con't)
@AFSCME
Lee Saunders: (con't) The city blocked sanitation workers' efforts to organize. Things came to a breaking point when two sanitation workers were crushed in the back of the truck when the crusher malfunctioned & crashed down on them, killing them. (con't)

Randy Korgan: Corporate America's greed--they can't control themselves. They deregulate this, take away that. A completely free market is slavery, & that's where we started as a country. We're going down a slippery slope.

Doug Jones: Nikki Haley started out wanting to do her best for the people of SC but then became too entrenched in the Trump organization. She's trying to outdo DeSantis.

Doug Jones: This primary will be about division, about whipping up a base. Every candidate will talk about unifying the country but when you strip away those sound bites, you'll see culture wars coming out of nearly every GOP candidate.

Today, the @CWAUnion attempted to provide cupcakes to our store (union shop) for our workers as a gift. These were turned away by our management team after continued insistence, by the 6016 VP, that this not be done while citing the company's own policy regarding gifts of food.
Many of us with tenure at the Penn Square Apple store are aware that the company's stance on gifts to employees that are specifically perishable by nature is that they are to be brought to the break room for ALL employees to collectively enjoy.
We have even historically wandered outside of policy and if the gift of food from a customer was intended for a specific employee, our management team has held them in the manager's office until said employee could guarantee they were the first to get to enjoy said gift.

šŸ§µWisconsin is evenly split between Ds and Rsā€”but the GOP has so gerrymandered our state legislative districts that the GOP is just ONE SEAT away from a state Senate supermajority that could override vetoes. Electing Jessica Katzenmeyer to SD5 is critical. secure.actblue.com/donate/jessicaā€¦
Under the previous district maps, Senate District 5 was represented by Republican Rep. Dale Kooyengaā€”who fought off a tough challenger in 2018 by just 2,245 votes. But when the lines moved, he retired. Now itā€™s an open seat, and perhaps the best pickup target in Wisconsin. Image
Wisconsinā€™s 5th state Senate District is a suburban Milwaukee districtā€”and Milwaukee suburbs have been getting less and less red ever since Trump came down the escalator and announced his run for president. Katzenmeyer could win this once-red district.

Doug Jones: I want to make sure people understand: There's nothing to indicate the Justice Dept is going after the former president; they're going after a potential crime.
@DougJones
Doug Jones: There was enough evidence that developed on a potential crime--we don't know what it is yet but there's talk of federal documents--and an agent put together the evidence in an affidavit. The info, incl probable cause, was taken to a judge. (con't)
@DougJones
Doug Jones: (con't) The DOJ couldn't do it on their own--they need approval from a separate branch of gov't. This is very serious. The gov't takes top secret documents very seriously; this could be an effort just to recover federal documents.

Dear #LaborMovement: itā€™s time for us to wake up. Just about every single mass shooting, of course, happens in *somebodyā€™s* workplace - whether perpetrated by a former colleague, a deranged terrorist or anyone else. (1)
Imagine the world we could live in if weā€™d joined hands and followed where @rweingarten tried to lead us after #SandyHook: a world where responsible gun owners could still take their teenagers hunting and protect their homes, but very, very few had access to weapons of war. (2)
A world where children didnā€™t have to practice hiding under their desks. A world where a coworker might be fired, but nobody worried that they would return to the office with an AR-15. A world where people went grocery shopping and were confident they would come home alive. (3)

The @AFLCIO is calling on the @WhiteHouse to do its part to assist borrowers hampered by crippling student loan debt.
Organized labor was built on the foundation of creating a pathway to the middle class for everyone, but skyrocketing student loan debt has become an insurmountable obstacle to achieving this goal.
The @POTUS administrationā€™s decision to continue to pause student debt has made a tremendous difference in the lives of so many borrowers.
